I conducted my anthropological research for my doctorate thesis on the relationships between livelihoods and natural resources. I have more than 15 years’ experience conducting social research and undertaking advisory work. I have specialised knowledge of poverty issues, livelihoods and social change. My key skills are in:
• Social development skills (social assessment, poverty analysis, participatory and rights approaches, including provision of social development skills to multi-disciplinary teams, etc.). • Working with people and conducting advisory work and social research in Africa. • Specialised knowledge on poverty, livelihoods and social change in East Africa (esp. Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya). • Training and facilitation. • Design and production of training materials, briefing notes, development guides.

My recent work for GYA has included the evaluation of the impact of DFID’s FMSP research programme on livelihoods across a number of countries. Working with local and international researchers this combined case study and quantitative analysis to identify changes in livelihoods as a result of commissioned research.
