GYA works to support sustainable development. Core to our business is an understanding that sustainable development and alleviation of poverty wherever it arises requires social, economic and environmental dimensions to be addressed together. This understanding underpins the services we offer our clients, our research interests and the way we operate our business.
We recognise that people are central to the success of our business and our ability to provide our clients with cost-effective, practical multi-disciplinary solutions. With directors based in the UK and US and a team that is often based or working around the world, we offer our staff and associates the opportunity to work from their home (or a local office). This distributed arrangement together with family-friendly policies enables us to attract highly-skilled staff and associates. We encourage our staff and Associates to maintain professional interests and links (whether in a corporate, academic or research environment) and to continue to update skills through training as appropriate. This keeps us in touch with the latest developments and provides a real-world experience that enriches the service we provide.
Minimising resource use is a key factor in achieving sustainable outcomes. Recognising this is a key to our business, it underpins our decision to adopt a distributed model, our use of advanced communication technologies to avoid unnecessary travel, the use of recycled materials and an ongoing assessment of ways to reduce our environmental footprint.
We are C neutral as a business offsetting emissions associated with our business related travel and office based energy use. These emissions are offset through Kyoto compliant emissions mitigation projects in developing countries – enabling us to demonstrate our commitment to international development through our actions.
